Frequently Asked Questions - Recreational Soccer

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the playing seasons?

  • Pike Soccer follows Georgia Soccer's guidelines for two playing seasons that equal a seasonal year with our recreational teams. Fall (Sept - Nov) and Spring (March - May)

When are signups?

  • Spring signups typically start before Thanksgiving and closes on or around January 10th. Earlybird discounts automatically apply until December 1.
  • Fall signups start mid to end of May and close July 31st. Earlybird discounts normally go to June 1st.
  • All seasons will have late registration dates that add $25 late fee starting 10 days before registration closes.
  • You cannot combine coaching or any other discounts while Earlybird is running.

How old does my child have to be to play?

  • If a child is 3 years or older, they will be eligible to participate.

The only age group showing for my child is an age older than they are. Why is this?

  • GA Soccer combines age groups, and with that, an age group that is U6 means UNDER 6. So, the team will consist of players who are 4-5 years old or players that turn 6 AFTER January 1. Same for the other age brackets.

How much is registration? Fees are subject to change WITH notice.

  • Under 4 (Appleseeds): $75 (No uniform but comes with Size 3 Ball)
  • U6 - U19: $220 (uniforms ARE included)

What equipment does my child need?

  • 1 soccer ball (appropriate size for age group)
    • Size 3: Appleseeds - U8 Please note that a size 3 ball is included with registration for Appleseeds only.
    • Size 4: U10 and U12
    • Size 5: U14 - U19
  • Uniform Kit for U6 and up: Consists of 1 red and 1 grey jersey, plus black shorts. (Included with registration)
  • Shin Guards (worn under socks)
  • Soccer Cleats
  • Long socks
  • Uniform for games, athletic wear for practice in all recreational teams.

How is my child assigned to a team?

Can my child play up?

  • See Playing Up Policy
  • Please note that true age group players take priority over a play up request.

How are coaches selected?

  • Pike Soccer, Inc. relies on our volunteers to coach our teams. We encourage parents to sign up as coaches as it does have its benefits. Any parent or guardian who wishes to coach their child's team will receive the following discount depending on age group.
    • Appleseeds - $25 discount.
    • U6 - U19 - $75 discount as of Fall 2024
    • It is important to note that the remaining fees to be paid for all age groups pays a portion of the players GA Soccer registration fee that includes player liability insurance through GA Soccer and a portion of the Pike Soccer user fee paid to Pike County Parks and Recreation Authority.

Frequently Asked Questions - Bridge and Competitive Soccer

What is Pike Fury FC Bridge and Pike Fury FC SCCL Select Soccer?

  • Pike Fury FC is a program offered through Pike Soccer, Inc. for those parents and players who want an accelerated and more challenging soccer development program (i.e., Travel Soccer). Pike Fury FC teams participate in Georgia Soccer and SCCL / US Club Soccer programs. Pike Fury FC teams are formed mostly by same age groups only and train more frequently and longer than recreational teams. Players must try out for a spot in an age group and the costs to participate are higher than that of a recreational program. The coaches and trainers are paid for their time and expertise as most have USSF level licenses and other accreditation. The benefit to the player is the opportunity to train with others who love and take the game as seriously as they do, are serious about development as a player and playing similarly skilled teams from other clubs statewide.
  • Rage Recreational Bridge Team: Our recreational program provides a fun and developmental environment to build foundational skills for those aspiring to Academy competitive play. This seasonal year (Fall 2025 & Spring 2026), we will offer a U12 program. Looking ahead, starting in Fall 2026 and Spring 2027, our recreational focus will shift to U10, with U12 moving exclusively to our Academy program. Rage teams will also play a recreational soccer schedule with GA Soccer plus friendlies with local academy teams. Your registration includes a home and away jersey, entry into one tournament each season, and training sessions led by our experienced Fury FC training staff 1-2 times per week.

What age groups are available in Academy and Select Soccer?

  • For the Fall 2025 to Spring 2026 seasons, we will only have a U12 Pike Fury FC Bridge program (Full Year). Starting in Fall 2026, the Bridge program will transition to U10 only, and U12 will be considered lower-level academy (subject to change based on skill set).
  • U12/U13 / U14 SCCL Competitive Teams (Fall through Spring Season)
  • U15 - U19 (Fall Season Only)

When are tryouts?

  • Tryouts are typically held just before or right after Memorial Day. Pike Soccer will post all dates as soon as we can per Georgia Soccer and SCCL Rules and Regulations.

When do practices start?

  • Practices for Pike Fury FC Bridge and Select teams typically start mid-July or beginning of August as their season starts before that of recreational teams.

Please see the Pike Fury FC tab for more information.
