Understanding U8 Teams
Our primary goal for the U8 age group is to have separate U8 girls' and boys' teams. While this hasn't always been possible in recent years, it remains our objective. Forming separate teams helps prepare players for the transition to U10, where travel play begins. Additionally, having separate U8 teams allows for interleague games, providing more opportunities for player development and preparation.
Age Brackets Explained: The "U" System
You'll notice our age brackets are all designated with a "U" (e.g., U8, U10). This signifies that our teams are truly "Under" that age. For example, a U8 team consists of players who are 7 and 6 years old. This structure aligns with GA Soccer's age bracket guidelines, which only offer even-numbered age groups. So, if your player turns 6 in August, they would be placed in the U8 bracket because their 6th birthday occurs during the active season. We understand this can be confusing, but rest assured, we are not trying to place your child with players significantly older or larger than them. U14 and U16 Age Group Considerations
While we typically succeed in forming dedicated U14 and U16 teams for true age-group play in the fall seasons, please be aware that GA Soccer can and will, at their discretion, combine U14 and U16 age groups. This is done to allow for more games and is a decision beyond our control. While we wish we could, we cannot contest it.
TeamSnap Not Provided by Club as of 06/01/2025
Please be aware that the club will no longer be providing TeamSnap this season. The cost for the app increased significantly from approximately $650 per season to over $1400 per season. This was not something that was budgeted into current registration costs, and we did not want to increase your regular registration fee of $125 (excluding the new uniform costs of $95) without more of a heads-up than mid-registration. We will provide your coach with a spreadsheet of player information, and they can sign up for a free TeamSnap account if they choose. We will provide them with instructions on importing player information.
Travel in Recreational Soccer (U10 and Up)
For players in the U10 and up brackets, please be aware that your teams will begin traveling to other surrounding clubs for games.
U10 to U12: Travel may include locations such as Butts, Henry, Lamar, Griffin, Upson, and possibly Fayette counties.
U14 and Up: These age groups may travel to the same locations as U10-U12, but can also include longer distances to areas like Columbus, Milledgeville, and Warner Robins.
